IT Outsourcing Driven by Cost in the Early Days

Dallas, TX, April 16, 2008 – Alsbridge, Inc. announced today the initial results of leading edge research conducted with by Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE:HHS).  Results of the report have not been published, but early indications are that the motivations of the outsourcing buyer change significantly over time.  Alsbridge is optimistic that this data will provide insight into systematic issues in the sourcing process.  Early findings indicate that cost reduction is the leading driver with user satisfaction and increased efficiency as the measurements that organizations employ to determine the success of the ITO initiative.

Over 140 respondents representing companies of all sizes worldwide were queried with outsourced relationship ranging from application development and maintenance as well as computer operations, network and desktop.

Ben Trowbridge, CEO for Alsbridge, sees the early research findings as a reflection of the widening choices for outsourcing in a buyer’s market. “The complexity of ITO  providers and services available is 100x of 10 years ago.  The ability to match client and provider takes a more careful consideration of the options than ever before.  The widening series of options now more than ever call for 3rd party assistance.  There are two drivers of this need: the first involves freeing up in-house IT staff to concentrate on more critical issues of day to day operations and secondly, access to the data and pricing benchmarks.
