Virginia Tech remembers the one-year anniversary of the massacre Wednesday that occurred at its school last year.
Twenty-seven students and five staff died when Seung-hui Cho went on a campus shooting rampage on April 16, 2007 before killing himself. Six students survived the tragedy.
It was the most deadly school shooting spree in United States history.
Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger will open the day of remembrance. The names of the 32 victims will be read out, as well as a few words about each person.
A candlelight vigil will follow later, while exhibitions and workshops will take place on campus throughout the day.
Further information about the events of the massacre is expected to be released as the result of a recent settlement totalling $11 million between survivors and victims' relatives and the state of Virginia.
Students across the nation honored the tragedy by wearing Virginia Tech paraphrenalia and posting pictures of the Virginia Tech ribbon on social networking sites. College athletic teams also placed the Virginia Tech logo and ribbon on their uniforms.
Both the Virginia Tech ribbon and logo are captured in the photo gallery.
