Pope Benedict XVI is holding a papal mass Thursday at the Washington Nationals' baseball stadium in Washington, DC.
The papal mass is the second day of the papal visit to the United States. Pope Benedict XVI held a birthday celebration on the White House lawn Wednesday to commemorate his 81st birthday.
Soon thereafter, he and President George W. Bush held a meeting together, in which they discussed such topics as extremism in Islam.
Pope Benedict then attended a private prayer service with bishops of the U.S. at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
The pope's trip, with a dozen scheduled events in Washington and New York, will also feature a United Nations address before he leaves for New York April 18, where he will visit the 9/11 Ground Zero site.
