YouTube Video Reveals Doctors Goofing off During Surgery

A YouTube video showed Philippine doctors laughing as they removed an object from a patient.

A YouTube video showed Philippine doctors laughing as they removed an object from a patient.  The unauthorized video has angered the patient and may lead to charges against the surgeons.  Officials have said that the video may have cost them their medical licenses.

The three minute video showed a noisy operating room with doctors and nurses, laughing, giggling and cheering.  Someone is even seen taking a picture of the surgery using a camera on their phone.  As the doctor started to pull out the 6 inch long canister that was in the male patient’s rectum, cheers are heard and someone shouts “Baby out!.”  Once the canister was removed the doctor removed the cap from the canister and began spraying nurses and other doctors with it.

It is not known who took the video, however, whoever posted the video has taken it down.

Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in central Cebu, where the surgery took place, is currently under investigation.

Dr. Emmanuel Gines has stated that hospitals often take videos of odd surgeries, but only with the patient’s consent.

The patient was a 39 year old who was operated on three days after New Years eve celebration including a  lot of alcohol and a “one night stand” with a male partner.  His lawyer, Guiller Ceniza, told the Associated Press that his client was too drunk to remember exactly what happened.
