American Campus Communities, Inc. is a fully integrated, self-managed and self-administered equity real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in the acquisition, design, financing, development, construction management, leasing and management of student housing properties across the United States.

The Company conducts its business through a controlling interest in American Campus Communities Operating Partnership LP and American Campus Communities Services, Inc., which serves as a taxable REIT subsidiary (TRS). American Campus Communities, through the TRS, also provides construction management and development services primarily for student housing properties owned by colleges and universities.

As of December 31, 2007 the Company's overall owned and managed portfolio encompassed 63 properties with approximately 43,800 beds in approximately 15,500 units. The Company organizes its business into four principal segments.
