Man Admits to Making Lewd Phone Calls to Newly Wed Brides

42 year old David Whyte admitted in court that he made “grossly offensive” calls to women, primarily new brides whose pictures were printed in local newspapers.

Fiscal depute Laura Begg stated that Whyte’s first victim first became concerned when the caller made sexual remarks over the phone.

According to Begg, “The complainer and her partner had married and their photo was in the local press.  She received another phone call and he said he k new where she lived.  The complainer put down the phone and dialed 1471.  The next day her husband returned from work and she told him about the call.  He phoned the number and the accused answered.

Whyte has admitted to making several obscene calls between September 2007 and January of this year.

He was placed on the sex offenders register.
