Bold soldier takes place in a park in the Village in NYC, (Tompkins square park) in 1971.  People from all walks of life, pass through it.  Some linger on and sit and /or play in the park.  One of the visitors is in army uniform, inspiring a middle age writer who is writing sitting on a bench to create a musical that involves all of these persons with no other bond between them than the fact that they are here today in this park at the same time. Bold Soldier contrasts the grounds of the park to the grounds of the battlefield.  It is a statement for Peace on earth
