Test results of his liver presented at Sommer’s first trial found arsenic levels to be 1,020 times above normal. At the trial, prosecutors argued that she used her husband’s life insurance to get breast implants. In January 2007, she was convicted of first-degree murder and faced life in prison.
Prosecutors in Sommer’s second trial found untested samples of liver with no traces of poison. After nearly 2 1/2 years in prison, Sommer was released Thursday night.
