Danica Patrick captured her first career IndyCar Series victory on Sunday and in doing so became the first woman to ever earn a spot in the winners circle.
In her 50th race Patrick finally answered all of her critics who doubted she would ever take the checkered flag. On Sunday it was her, and her crew’s, ability to stretch their tank a little bit further than the rest of the field as she avoided a late pit stop and beat Helio Castroneves and Scott Dixon by nearly six seconds.
