7-Year-Old Struck by Ambulance While Riding Bike

A 7-year-old Springfield, Illinois boy remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after an ambulance struck him Saturday evening while he was riding his bike.

According to police the young boy had been riding his bike around 8:30 p.m. when the ambulance struck him. The boy was treated on the scene and then transported to St. John’s Hospital and placed in the emergency room.

The accident is being investigated by police and it was determined that the ambulance had not been responding to an emergency when the accident occurred.
