R.E.M. to Perform at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 29

The R.E.M. North American tour is just over a month away and after performing in Burnaby, British Columbia on May 23 and a stop at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in Quincy, Washington on my 24 they will be in Los Angeles for a show at the Hollywood Bowl on May 29.

 

R.E.M. will stay in California with a pair of shows in Berkley at the Greek Theatre on May 31 and June 1 and then head to Colorado to play the Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 3. They will then move on to Chicago and Toronto for their next two shows.

 

Formed in 1980 by Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Bill Berry developed a massive following in Athens, Ga. and quickly became a college radio station favorite. Their first few years were marked by success with singles such as Radio Free Europe and Gardening at Night and by the time they released their debut album Murmur in 1983 they were well on their way to stardom.

 

In 1987 they released the single “The One I Love” which brought them mainstream success and they’ve never looked back. Along the way they influenced bands such as Sonic Youth, Nirvana, the Replacements and several others.
