Nokia Sells Wireless Modem Business to Renesas Electronics

Nokia has opted to get out of the wireless modem business, selling its technologies and patents to Renesas Electronics for a reported $200 million.

The announcement cam e on Tuesday and will include LTE, HSPA, and GSM technologies and patents as Nokia moves toward a clearer focus on its handset and services business.

 

As part of the announcement Nokia stated that they would work with Renesas Electronics in tehfutire to develop modern technologies.
