Toyota Motor Corp. has issued a recall involving nearly 139,000 Lexus vehicles after determining a faulty engine valve could degrade over time and lead to engine failure.

Making the issue even tougher for Toyota was the revelation that they had received reports of the faulty engine valve three years ago but rather than issue a recall then they made improvements to their casting process to remedy the problem. Unfortunately for Toyota they continued to receive reports of broken valve springs.
On Tuesday the U.S. recall of Lexus as well as Toyota Crown vehicles was announced, a recall that now includes Australia, Canada, Japan and Europe and involves 270,000 vehicles.
The Lexus vehicles involved in the recall include the IS 350, GS 350, GS 450h, GS 460, LS 460, LS 460 L and LS 600h L vehicles from the 2006 through 2008 model years
