Seattle summer camps at the University of Washington offer a unique learning and life skills opportunity for students entering grades 9-12 in the fall.
These high school enrichment programs are operated by Quantum Learning Network under the name SuperCamp. SuperCamp is in its twenty-ninth year and has had over 55,000 students attend its programs in the U.S. from all 50 states and over 80 countries worldwide.
SuperCamp thrives from a positive learning environment which its educators create for campers by providing clean and organized spaces to interact in, constant positive affirmations on the walls, examples of previous teachings within sight, and constant positive feedback. Within this type of environment, people are more likely to have heightened self-confidence and trust. This helps students in their ability to build new relationships with friends and take steps away from their comfort zones to try new things.
Upon their graduation, students return home with valuable life skills from a positive learning environment with the knowledge of how to practice good habits to generate their own success.
These life skills tools include, eliminating negative messages, acknowledging positive behaviors, and providing growth opportunities for themselves. SuperCamp facilitators and staff stress the importance of practicing these newly learned skills on a daily basis to maintain and strengthen them in order to make them a daily life choice.
Independent studies with SuperCamp graduates have revealed the program's ability to help students raise their grades, confidence and motivation. The success of the summer camp with students led the company to introduce Quantum Learning programs in schools for teachers, students and administrators.
The SuperCamp Washington teen summer program, which still has a few spots available, runs July 23 - August 1. Parents can still enroll their son or daughter by calling 800-285-3276 or online at www.SuperCamp.com.
