Metallica to Perform Live at Levski Stadium in Sofia Bulgaria July 25

Considered on of the greatest heavy metal bands in history according to several influential music magazines and critics, Metallica will be touring throughout Europe performing at various locations ranging from Prague to Dublin.  The group will be performing live at Levski Stadium in Sofia, Bulgaria on July 25 at 9:00 pm.  Following that, the band will perform at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey on July 27.

Formed in Los Angeles, California, by drummer Lars Ulrich, Metallica was created after he posted an ad in a local paper to start a band.  The finished line up included Ulrich, James Hetfield (rhythm guitar), Dave Mustaine (lead guitar), and Ron McGovney (bass).  Cliff Burton and Kirk Hammet later replaced McGovney and Mustaine, respectively, causing a bitter feud between Mustaine and Metallica.  Mustaine went on to form Megadeth.  After a fatal tour bus accident in 1986, Burton was tragically killed leading to the introduction of Jason Newsted to the band.  Newsted later resigned from the band in 2001 and was replaced by Robert Trujillo in 2003.

One of the “Big Four” of the thrash metal music genre, next to Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, Metallica is known for their fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship.  The band started gaining popularity in the underground music community and quickly rose to fame in the mainstream music industry with the release of their self titled album in 1991.

Metallica albums include:

Kill Em All (1983)

Ride the Lightning (1984)

Master of Puppets (1986)

…And Justice for All (1988)

Metallica (1991)

Load (1996)

ReLoad (1997)

St Anger (2003)
