Summer Camp Fun is Spelled S U P E R C A M P for Many Campers

The academic summer camp changes the perception that summer enrichment camps are boring and just like school by providing campers with a dynamic 10-day experience led by an engaging, high-energy Quantum Learning-trained staff.

Countless teens who have attended the teen summer camp, SuperCamp, call it "the best 10 days of my life." The most common reason they give is that they gain a lot of confidence, motivation and new learning skills in the 10-day academic summer camp and have a lot of fun doing it.

What's fun about SuperCamp? Most campers tell us it's the high-energy days led by a staff of dynamic, entertaining facilitators who make the learning fun. The SuperCamp facilitators are trained in Quantum Learning teaching and learning methodologies that are based in accelerated learning principles.

Bobbi DePorter, the co-founder and president of SuperCamp says these methods have proven to be very successful, both at SuperCamp and in schools. "Independent studies of SuperCamp graduates validate our methods for helping students improve grades, confidence and motivation," says DePorter. "The results have been equally significant in schools across the country where teachers and students have been trained using Quantum Learning."

SuperCamp is a 10-day co-ed residential summer camp that helps kids enhance such academic skills as reading, writing, test/note taking, and memory/study strategies, while developing life skills in the areas of communication, relationships, leadership, self-esteem, confidence, goal setting, and motivation.

One strategy that makes SuperCamp fun for students and work so well is the series of mini-successes the facilitators and staff orchestrate for the kids at camp. These mini-success moments help create the shift or change in students in just 10 days and can lead to building their motivation to excel.

“At SuperCamp, we teach learning skills that can be applied to any subject and identify the learning style and strategies that work best for each student,” said Chicka Elloy, SuperCamp Program Director and a book contributor. “As proof that what we do works, we’re now seeing many second-generation SuperCampers enrolling in our programs.”

SuperCamp teaches 8 Keys of Excellence: Integrity, Failure Leads to Success, Speak with Good Purpose, This Is It!, Commitment, Ownership, Flexibility and Balance. DePorter developed the 8 Keys years ago by studying successful people and identifying the traits and principles they shared.

SuperCamp provides four grade-specific programs: a Youth Forum for kids entering grades 4 and 5, Junior Forum for kids entering grades 6 to 8, Senior Forum for kids entering grades 9 to 12, and Quantum U for high school grads through college seniors. Each program is customized to the learning needs and socialization skills of the particular age and grade level. SuperCamp is held at eight colleges throughout the U.S. and in several countries worldwide. Now in its twenty-sixth year, SuperCamp has graduated over 48,000 students.
