Eminem Comes Clean On Getting Clean

Rapper Eminem’s new album, Recovery, is truly a case of art imitating life.

Detroit-based rapper Eminem has been upfront about his past drug use and is now sharing details of his recovery process and the safety measures he’s put in place to ensure he stays clean.

Also known as Marshall Mathers, Eminem has admitted to a prescription drug addiction to Ambien, Valium and Vicodin. But now he’s been sober for two years, and while he’s back making music, he isn’t anxious to get out on the road, citing it as an addiction trigger. He’s also seeing a rehab counselor once a week to keep him on track.

“Recovery feels better than ever," Eminem told Showbiz Tonight’s Brooke Anderson, adding, "Feels like I’m me again.”

But it wasn’t always that way. It took him awhile to admit he had a problem.

"In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you're weak,” he told Anderson. “But if I didn't admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die."
