Pearl Jam will be performing live at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC on Sunday, June 22 at 7:30 pm. The band will then move on to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York on June 24.
Formed in Seattle, Washington, the American rock band, Pearl Jam began in 1990, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Eddie Vedder, basist Jeff Ament, rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard and lead guitarist Mike McCready. Currently the drummer is former Soundgarden member, Matt Cameron who has been with the group since 1998.
After Ament and Gossard’s previous band, Mother Love Bone, was dismantled, Pearl Jam formed and made it to mainstream music with their debut album, Ten. It is considered one of the key bands in the 1990 grunge movement, although they were often criticized for being corporate cash in on the alternative rock explosion.
The band has sold 30 million records in the United States and an estimated 60 million worldwide. One of the most influential bands of the time, the group has outlasted several of its contemporaries from the alternative rock scene in the early 1990’s.
