Gas Prices Continue to Climb with No End in Sight

According to American Automobile Association, gasoline prices hit the highest average price the auto club has ever recorded.

On Monday, U.S. gas prices topped out at $3.50 per gallon for regular self-serve gasoline.

The average cost for a gallon of gas climbed even higher than Sunday’s $3.49 price per gallon. Last month, that reading was $3.26 per gallon; one year ago, it was $2.85.

Gasoline prices are not expected to decrease as the demand for gasoline is much higher in the spring and summer months.

The highest average gas prices were reported in California at $3.86 per gallon. Wyoming had the lowest at $3.39 a gallon.

AAA’s obtains its data from over 85,000 reporting gas stations.
