“American Idol” Jordin Sparks Sidelined from Alicia Keys Tour

“American Idol” Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks has had to cancel the April dates she was scheduled to appear as the opening act for the Alicia Keys concert tour. Doctors have told the 18-year old Sparks to rest her voice or she could suffer permanent damage to her vocal cords.

Suffering from vocal strain, Jordin Sparks cancelled an appearance scheduled last week on the Live with Regis and Kelly Show, and backed out of Monday’s Earth Day concert on the National Mall in Washington D.C.

Sparks will have to wait until some time in May to rejoin the Keys tour, which kicked off over the weekend.

A representative for Sparks said the singer is expected to make a “full and complete recovery.”

Sparks’ debut album is headed toward gold status (500,000 copies sold), and downloads of her single Tatoo have passed 1 million. Spark's latest single, a duet with Chris Brown called No Air, is in the top 10 on the Billboard’s Hot 100.
