Dream House Designer Finds A Dream Home of Her Own

Professional home stylist and real estate stager Diana Hudson Kresnye, owner of Devine Designs, has relocated to Chester Township in Geauga County, Ohio. Kresnye, who is featured in the spring issue of Cleveland Home Décor magazine and in the cover story of the March Issue of Ohio Magazine, is a designer for the Lake County YMCA Dream House being built in Concord this year.
 
A native Clevelander, Kresnye returned to Northeast Ohio in 2005 to marry long lost love, former Mentor City Councilman Ben “B.J.” Kresnye. Prior to returning to Ohio, she had lived in San Diego, California for 10 years and in the greater metro Atlanta, Georgia area for nearly seven years.  In San Diego, Kresnye helped design “Seau’s The Restaurant”, a 13,000 square-foot sports grille owned by then San Diego Charger Junior Seau, who now plays for the New England Patriots.

Kresnye, who specializes in residential decorating, redesign, and real estate staging, says “family, work, and home are all sides of the same coin. I don’t like to separate them – that’s why I work from home. It also allows me to keep my fees reasonable so that good design can be affordable for everyone.”
 
When it came to finding a new home, Kresnye said she and her husband looked for more than a year. “As a designer, I had a very specific idea as to what I wanted. ‘Home’ is a very powerful part of all our lives and both my husband and I wanted to find a house we could make our dream home,” she said. They found what they were looking for this past summer in Chesterland. The charming Cape Cod named the “Cottage in the Woods”, is on a cul de sac of a winding road. “It has ‘great bones’ with just over five acres and a pond. The house needs updating, but that will be the fun of making it into our home,” she said.

Kresnye’s work has been seen annually at the Holden Arboretum’s “Holiday Idea House” where she is a perennial favorite. She will present a two-hour workshop on “Staging Your Home to Sell” at 7:00 pm next Thursday, May 1 at the Bainbridge Library. Kresnye will also be a featured speaker at the annual conference of The Society of Decorating Professionals in Phoenix, Arizona from August 6-8, 2008.
