Grizzly Bear from Will Ferrell Movie Kills Trainer

A grizzly bear that shared the screen with comedic actor Will Ferrell in the film “Semi-Pro” turned on one of its trainer Tuesday, killing him with a bite to the neck.

According to police reports Stephan Miller, along with two other trainers, had been working with the 7 ½ foot, 700 pound bear at the Predators in Action facility when the bear turned. The 5-year-old bear known as “Rocky” has appeared in several films, most recently in a wrestling scene with Ferrell in “Semi-Pro.”

Predators in Action, owned by well-known handler Randy Miller, has two grizzlies as well as cougars, wolves, tigers, lions and leopards on its 55-acre training facility. The facility is located in the San Bernardino Mountains in California.

Stephan Miller, 39, had been inside an enclosure with “Rocky” when something startled the bear and he attacked. Emergency workers responded within minutes but Miller was pronounced dead on the scene.

The fate of “Rocky” has yet to be determined.
