An Australian hospital is set to close for at least 24 hours after the facility was overrun by poisonous redback spiders.
The small Baralaba Multi Purpose Health Service, located about 200miles northwest of Brisbane, will likely move its handful of patients to another hospital while the building is fumigated. While redback spiders are common in Australia the hospital had become infested by the venomous biters and posed a potential danger to patients and staff.
Health officials have said the hospital will be shut down on Thursday so that the building could be fumigated to kill the spiders and their eggs.
