Let's be real: We've all thought about it.
Heck, if you're like me then maybe you even experimented with it in college... But for one reason or another, chances are you aren't actually putting any Guerilla Marketing tactics to work for your business...
And why should you?
"Guerilla Marketing seems great and all, but you've got to be really creative right?"
"How will I know Guerilla Marketing will work for me?"
Rattle off any excuses you might have about avoiding Guerilla Marketing thus far, but after you read this you'll have to come up with a whole new excuse. Why? Because I'm going to show you Three Insane Guerilla Marketing Tactics that you can do for dirt cheap, that don't take a large investment of time, that you could probably set in motion on the way to work tomorrow... So if this doesn't turn you into a Guerilla Marketing maniac I don't know what will...
Guerilla Marketing Tactic One: Human Billboard: I saw this one in NYC; this controversial guerilla marketing idea makes for some highly talkative web-traffic: Pay a homeless person to hold a cardboard sign that reads: www.yoursitename.com paid me $20 to wear this sign!
If you don't want to approach a homeless person, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts you could pay any random twenty something to do the same job.
Guerilla Marketing Tactic Two: Helium Mini Blimps: Business cards are so last century. How about getting a few dozen helium balloons printed up with your website address and a cool free offer, then fill em up with helium, and then weight them down with paper clips and tape till they just hang in the air...
Take your guerilla marketing "mini-blimps" with you to an industry conference or event, or set them free somewhere with a lot of targeted foot traffic, and watch people become mesmerized by the flock of hovering balloons :-)
Guerilla Marketing Tactic Three: Secret Notes: Leave postcard sized "notes" in targeted places that will attract the type of customer you're looking for. Think Starbucks bathrooms, movie theatre seats, or slip them in magazines your audience might read next time you're near a stack at the grocery store.
Now, a note from the angry little lawyer in my head, who says: "Some or all of these guerilla marketing tactics could get you in trouble if you do them stupidly, so practice them wisely. Always use good judgement, don't tick off other business owners with your guerilla marketing tactics if you can possibly help it, and follow the rules and laws applicable to you."
There, now he's much happier.
OK, so the real question is: Do you have the guts to go out there with off the wall guerilla marketing tactics and be outstanding for money? Are you willing to bend the rules, think outside the box, and rattle peoples cages if it means you'll end up the richer for it?
