Getting attention these days can be incredibly difficult if you're relying on old ideas. Especially old ideas about Guerilla Marketing and so called "branding." The old way of thinking was "do anything you can to get attention and increase 'brand awareness'" which is the basic drive behind most Guerilla Marketing tactics you see in play these days. "There's no such thing as bad publicity" right?

Wrong. Empty, fruitless publicity is as good as no publicity at all.

So, how do you pull off a successful guerilla marketing promotion without wasting time and energy? Build in a response mechanism. I'll explain...

The ultimate goal of your guerilla marketing strategy is to be able to look at either dollars in the bank, or email addresses on a list so you can gauge your guerilla marketing campaign and decide if it was a success or not.

There are literally thousands of ways you can <<use Guerilla Marketing to get traffic>> but one way or another you've got to give people a way they can opt-in for your email list. The more people you get on your list with guerilla marketing, the more money you make when you send promotional emails. And short of using your guerilla marketing strategy to make immediate sales, getting email addresses is like collecting little chunks of solid gold.

So, what are some "response mechanisms" you can use in your guerilla marketing campaigns?I've got three here to get your brain cranking:

Guerilla Marketing Response Device 1: Your website URL. if you redirect your main domain (www.yourdomain) to a squeeze page, you can capture names and emails by getting people to type in your URL and sign up online.

Guerilla Marketing Response Device 2: Twitter hashtags: Tell people to tweet #yourhashtag to their twitter feed, and you'll contact everyone who tweeted that tag at the end of the day with directions on what to do.    

Guerilla Marketing Response Device 3: Physical squeeze pamphlets. Print out a basic squeeze page with all the reasons to sign up, and a typed out URL where people can go to sign up. You can even do things the old fashioned way and pass around a sign up form with columns for name, email, cell phone, etc.
