Parents and Students Benefit From Academic Summer Camps

SuperCamp’s youth summer camps teach students from grades 6 through 12 valuable learning and life skills that contribute to academic, professional, and personal success throughout their lifetime.

This summer, parents of campers can share in this learning at a 3-day academic summer camp of their own.  Parent Weekend is a SuperCamp designed specifically for parents, where they learn some of the same real-life skills their son or daughter learns in their youth or teen summer camp.  This helps parents understand and communicate better with their children following the SuperCamp experience, which builds better relationships in the future.

Often, well-meaning parents try to solve problems for their teens before they fully understand their teen's perspectives. They speak from a grown-up's point of view instead of trying to see things through a teen's eyes. Program grad David Evans wrote, "So many parents are trying to turn their teens into things they're not, rather than trying to find out the things about their teens that are strong and true."

Course experiences at Parent Weekend include understanding the 8 keys of excellence, academic and memory skills, communication strategies, goal-setting, and barrier-breaking.  Not only does it help parents in relating with their children, but it also gives them useful tools in dealing with other aspects of their lives.

Parents can sign up to attend the same weekend that their child will be graduating from their SuperCamp program, or they can select any SuperCamp campus anytime that the program is offered. For more information visit the summer programs page at the SuperCamp website or call 800- 285-3276.
