Image of Topless Woman Appears in Classroom Presentation by Lawmaker; Ohio Democrat Resigns

An Ohio lawmaker has resigned after an image of a topless woman appeared on a computer he was using in a classroom lecture.

Rep. Matthew Barrett was speaking to an American government class of about 20 high school students. After Barrett inserted a data memory stick into a computer, the image of a topless woman was projected.

Barrett, a Democrat from Columbus, at first said he did not know how the image had become intermingled with his presentation on how a bill becomes a law. Upon review by the State Highway Patrol, it was determined the image had been downloaded by one of Barrett’s children.

Ohio House Democratic leader Joyce Beatty demanded Barrett’s resignation after he acknowledged he had not been truthful in the matter. A spokesman for House Democrats declined to elaborate.
