North Carolina GOP chairwoman Linda Daves said Thursday that the state party's ad linking Sen. Barack Obama and Rev. Jeremiah Wright will not air till next week.
"This ad presents a question of patriotism and judgment. It is entirely appropriate for voters to evaluate candidates based on their past associations," said Daves, the chairwoman of the North Carolina Republican Party.
Daves made the statement shortly after Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain shunned the ad, saying that the ad does not represent him nor his party.
Members of the North Carolina GOP have said that the ad is not about Obama, but about the Democratic candidates running in the state. The ad just calls to question the NC candidates' judgement for supporting Obama, who has a relationship with the controversial Wright.
According to the NC GOP website, which is located at www.ncgop.org, Daves was elected Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party in December of 2006 after being elected Vice Chairman of the Party in May 1999-2005.
