Navy Fires Warning Shots on Two Iranian Fast Boats in Persian Gulf

After blowing a whistle and firing flares and getting no response a security team aboard a vessel contracted by the US Navy fired live machine gun rounds in the direction of two Iranian fast boats that were approaching.

The Westward Venture was about 50 miles off the coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf when the two fast boats appeared.

After the fast boats failed to heed the whistle and flares the Navy security team used M16 rifles and .50-caliber machine guns to fire off the warnings. The Westward Venture has been contracted by the Navy to carry military cargo to Kuwait.
