Roger Clemens had a 10-year affair with country singer Mindy McCready, according to reports in the New York Daily News on Monday.
The reports say that the affair began with McCready was 15 years old and Clemens was 28. The two met as McCready sang karaoke at a Florida bar Clemens was at.
Clemens said through his lawyer, Rusty Hardin, that he and McCready are friends but denied any sexual relationship.
"He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Hardin said. "He considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her."
McCready has recorded a total of four studio albums, and has charted more than ten singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. However, she has made as much news for going on the Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss her abusive relationship with her boyfriend and her abuse of drugs.
McCready is attempting a comeback, being featured in a documentary in Nashville and a reality show named Mending Mindy.
Clemens, one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball history, is in the middle of a steriods accusation by Brian McNamee, which was reported first in the Mitchell Report.
