Rev. Jeremiah Wright held a press conference Monday with the National Press Club on CSPAN. Wright defended his previous statements, while saying that recent attacks on him have been directed to the Black church.
Wright maintained many of the statements that have made him controversial, but said that the attacks by media pundits have not affected him, but have attacked the Black church.
"This is not an attack on Jeremiah Wright," said Rev. Wright. "This is an attack on the black church."
"If you think I'm gonna let you talk about my momma and her religious tradition, and my Daddy and his religious tradition," said Wright, "you got another thing coming."
While at the National Press Club, Wright responded about his "chickens come home to roost" statement about America's involvement in 9/11 by referencing the Bible's famous quotes "whatever you sew, that is what you shall reap," and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
"You cannot do terrorism on other people and not expect it to come back on you," Wright said. "Those are Biblical principles, not Jeremiah Wright 'bombastic' principles."
Wright is the former pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, the former church of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).
Over the last couple of months, Wright has been slammed in the media due to statements he has said in his sermons, claiming that Obama should not be affiliated with a preacher who had such points of view.
