Newlyweds David Wielechowski and Christa Vattimo Spend Night in Jail

Newlyweds David W. Wielechowski and Christa Vattimo spent the night in separate jail cells still, she in her wedding gown and he in his tux. Police say the new couple brawled with each other and members of another wedding party while at their wedding reception in a Pittsburgh hotel.

Wielechowski, a dentist, and Vattimo were married a month ago in the Bahamas. They repeated their vows Saturday in front of 150 friends and family. A reception followed.

 

Police say the fight broke out as they were checking into their room. The 32-year-old dentist knocked Vattimo, 25, to the floor with a karate kick. When members of another wedding party came to her aid, she began attacking him. The couple threw metal planters at the guests of the other party.

 

Authorities were called and both Wielechowski and Vattimo were charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. A hearing for the pair has been set for May 7.
