Newlyweds David W. Wielechowski, Christa Vattimo Jailed for Brawl During Wedding

David W. Wielechowski and Christa Vattimo, a Pittsburgh newlywed couple, are in jail Tuesday after they caused a brawl during their wedding ceremony.

The fight started Saturday night after a reception when Wielechowski knocked Vattimo to the floor with a karate kick in the seventh-floor hallway of a Holiday Inn in suburban Pittsburgh. The brawl escalated when Vattimo attacked two guests from another wedding party who tried to help her.

The brawl moved to an elevator and then to the lobby, where the couple threw metal planters at the two guests.

Wielechowski, 32, and Vattimo, 25, got married a month earlier in the Bahamas but repeated their vows Saturday at a reception for 150 guests. They were checking into their room when the argument began

Police found Wielechowski, a dentist, lying on the lobby floor and his bride, who appeared slightly intoxicated while she was screaming.

The couple was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, and the bride with an additional count of public intoxication. They face a May 7 preliminary hearing.
