An airstrike launched by the American military in Somalia has killed the leader of the country’s al-Qaeda faction and left nine others tied to the terrorist group dead.
The strike hit the home of Aden Hashi Ayro in Dusamareeb, instantly killing the head of al-Qaeda in Somalia.
Ayro had been known to have trained in Afghanistan prior to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and was identified as an active participant in the al-Shabab movement in Somalia, a group whose aim is to impose Islamic law throughout the country.
