California Rattled by Pair of Earthquakes

Bakersfield, California was shook by an early morning earthquake Thursday as a 4.4 magnitude temblor hit just outside Lake Isabella, barely four hours after a quake struck outside Los Angeles in Palm Springs.

The Bakersfield quake struck at 1:11 a.m. but left no injuries or damage.

About four hours earlier a 4.2-magnitude quake hit just outside Palm Springs, east of Los Angeles.
