Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:AMAT) to Release Q2 2008 Earnings May 13

Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ:AMAT) will release the second quarter earnings for 2008 on Tuesday, May 13.  The company will hold a conference call at 1:30 pm PT to discuss the financial results.  A webcast of the call will be available on the company’s website at appliedmaterials.com.

Applied Materials, Inc. (Applied)provide Nanomanufacturing Technology solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display, solar and related industries, with a portfolio of equipment, service and software products.

Applied’s customers include manufacturers of semiconductor chips and wafers, flat panel liquid crystal displays (LCDs), photovoltaic (PV) cells and other electronic devices.

The Company operates in four segments, which includes Silicon, Fab Solutions, Display, and Adjacent Technologies.

During the fiscal year ended October 28, 2007 (fiscal 2007), the Company launched its Applied Centura Mariana Trench Etch and Applied Opus AdvantEdge Metal Etch. In fiscal 2007, the Company introduced the Applied Tetra III Advanced Reticle Etch system, based on Applied’s decoupled plasma source (DPS) wafer etch technology. In January 2008, Applied acquired Baccini S.p.A., which is a supplier of automated metallization and test systems for manufacturing crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells.
