Florida Teacher Fired after Being Accused of Wizardry

A Land ‘O Lakes, Florida substitute teacher may have to find a new line of work after he was fired for making a toothpick dispenser disappear during a class at Rushe Middle School.

 

Jim Piculas had been called in to substitute at the school and during one class he performed a magic trick in which he made a toothpick dispenser disappear and then reappear. Later in the day Piculas received a call from the supervisor of substitute teachers telling him they had a problem.

 

Piculas was told that he would no longer be allowed to accept any more assignments due to an accusation that he practiced wizardry in the classroom.
