Clues May Link ‘Smiley Face Gang’ to Missing College Student

Volunteers searching for a missing Vermont college student discovered clues that suggest a link to the so-called ‘smiley face gang’ investigators believe may be responsible for the apparent drowning deaths of about 40 other college-age victims in 11 states.

19-year old Nicholas Garza has been missing since Feb. 5 when he was seen leaving his dormitory at Middlebury College.

After seeing national news reports with striking similarities, searchers came forward with photographs of smiley face graffiti discovered over a week ago while combing a river bank for clues in Garza’s disappearance.

Middlebury police feel the graffiti may be several years old and are not following up on leads in connection to the so-called ‘smiley face gang.’
