Barack Obama Wins North Carolina Primary on Tuesday

Sen. Barack Obama won the North Carolina Democratic primary on Tuesday, accounting for 56% of the vote.

Obama earned 62 delegates for the NC primary win, while rival Sen. Hillary Clinton earned 46. According to CNN, Obama gained 895,421 votes to Clinton's 659,195.

Obama still leads the delegate count with a total of 1,842: 1,588 delegates and 254 superdelegates. Clinton follows with 1,419 delegates and 267 superdelegates for a total 1,686.

In order to secure the Democratic nomination, a candidate needs to secure 2,025 delegates to win.

Based on numbers, it has been reported that Clinton cannot win the nomination. However, she has been vehement about staying in the race.
