George McGovern Urges Hillary Clinton to Drop Presidential Bid
Former Sen. George McGovern has urged Hillary Clinton to drop her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination noting the New York senator’s chances of securing the nod were virtually impossible.
McGovern’s urging comes just months after he threw his support behind Clinton’s campaign. On Wednesday McGovern revealed that he was now supporting Barack Obama but refused to criticize Clinton noting, “She has run a valiant campaign. And she will remain an influential voice in the American future.”
McGovern had called former President Bill Clinton and let him know about his decision to support Obama. When speaking of his relationship with the Clintons McGovern said, “will hold them in affection and admiration all of my days.”
