Eddy Arnold, the prolific country music star and pioneer of “The Nashville Sound,” has died at the age of 89, just one-week shy of his 90th birthday.
Best remembered for his way with a love song, Arnold charted 147 songs and 28 Number 1 hits on Billboard’s “Country Singles” chart. Arnold has also been credited with selling more than 85 million records.
Arnold’s number one hits included “Make the World Go Away,” “Just Call Me Lonesome,” “I Want to Go with You,” and “Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye.”
In 1966 Eddy Arnold was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
