Coyote Drags 2-year-old Girl Out of Front Yard; Third Attack in a Week

A coyote attacked a 2-year-old girl on Tuesday, grabbing her by the head and dragging her out of the front yard of her southern California home.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the attack happened around noon after the girl’s mother, Melissa Rowley, stepped inside the home for a moment.

Rowley said as she came out of the house, she saw the coyote dragging her daughter toward the street. When she ran toward her daughter, the coyote released the child and ran off.

The toddler was treated for several punctures to the head, neck and mouth, and was flown to Loma Linda University Hospital for evaluation. The 2-year-old’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Tuesday’s coyote attack followed two separate attacks over the weekend in another San Bernardino County community.
