China to Block Internet during Beijing Olympics

During the summer Olympic Games in Beijing, some internet sites will be blocked as government officials in China plan to censor Internet access for the media covering the games.

Considered one of the most strict censors of the Internet, China had initially pledged “complete freedom” for media coverage of the Olympics.

Internet restrictions weren’t the only limitations placed on the Beijing Olympics. Plans were also announced that the Chinese government would restrict the use of cars in an effort to prevent traffic problems.
