Brett Favre has said that his return to the Minnesota Vikings is not a question about desire but rather the condition of his surgically repaired ankle.
The three-time NFL MVP is coming off one of his best seasons, leading the Vikings to the NFC Championship game before falling to the New Orleans Saints. Shortly after his season ended Favre had surgery on his injured ankle, hoping he would be ready for another year as Minnesota’s quarterback but he has said his recovery is taking longer than he expected.
In an interview with ESPN’s Hannah Storm the 40-year-old Favre said “When you wake up in the morning and your feet hurt it kind of makes the rest of your body hurt.” Despite those pains Favre did say “I would love to play and be the best I can possibly be. That's what I'm working toward right now.”
