Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood mogul and Hillary Clinton supporter, threatened Thursday to cut off contributions to congressional Democrats.
Weinstein said he would do so unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embraced his plan to finance revotes in Florida and Michigan.
Weinstein and Pelosi spoke via telephone last month about the ordeal.
Weinstein, a top supporter of Clinton's presidential campaign, appeared focused to buy Clinton more time in her presidential battle against Sen. Barack Obama by pushing for the revote.
Weinstein called CNN Thursday to deny the allegations. "Never, ever was the thought about denying funding to Democrats," he said. "I told her people felt there would be a disenfranchisement of voters" unless Democrats remedied the situation in Michigan and Florida.
Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax Films who now runs the Weinstein Company, said the phone call to Pelosi was to offer to build a team of financiers to fund the revote.
Weinstein has personally made contributions to candidates that he supports like Clinton, but has only given $2,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
