Man Performs Tracheotomy on Self with Steak Knife

An Omaha man who couldn’t breath saved his own life after using a steak knife to perform a tracheotomy.

55-year old Steve Wilder, who suffered from throat cancer, said he was afraid help would arrive in time.

Wilder says he took a steak knife from his kitchen and made a hole in his throat to open up an airway.

Doctors expect the wound to heal without any problems.
