30 wounded veterans have ditched their wheelchairs for another mode of transportation, the Segway.
The specially designed Segways were presented to the vets by the Disability Rights Advocates for Technology group.
Since 2005, DRAFT has outfitted more than 150 wounded veterans with the battery-powered human transporters in its “Segs-4-Vets” mission.
The big advantage the Segways offer is a matter of perspective. Vets say they are able to see others eye to eye, rather than having people look down at them in a wheelchair.
