Suicide Bombers Target Shia Mosque in Iran, Dozens Dead, Hundreds Injured

A pair of suicide bombers have struck a Shia mosque in southeastern Iran, killing at least 27 people and leaving more than 250 injured.

According to reports the Sunni rebel group Jundullah has claimed responsibility for the attack outside the Jamia mosque in Zahedan, saying it was in retaliation for the execution of its leader, Abdolmalek Rigi, by Iran last month.

Friday’s blasts came in quick succession as the initial bomber, said to be dressed in women’s clothing, blew himself up near a checkpoint outside the mosque and as people came to help the wounded the second bomber struck.
