A massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake leveled much of the western Sichuan province in China on Monday leaving between 3,000-5,000 dead and more than 10,000 injured.
The quake struck during midday where students packed schools and offices were full. Several of those building were toppled leaving thousands trapped under rubble.
Rescue workers were frantically trying to remove large pieces of debris to unearth those buried.
The epicenter of the quake struck in Wenchuan and sent buildings as tall as six-stories crumbling to the ground. Residents in Beijing, more than 900 miles from Wenchuan, felt the tremor as did those in Pakistan, Vietnam and Thailand.
