School Sued After Four Year Old Has Mouth Taped Shut

The Amedeo family has filed a lawsuit against Flushing Fields Play School after a teacher allegedly taped the mouth shut of four year old Angela Amedeo.  According to the lawsuit filed in the Queens Supreme Court, Angela’s mouth was sealed with Scotch tape for 10 minutes as punishment for talking during “quiet time.”

Since the incident on August 22, the family claims that the child has reacted to the event through crying and she has suffered nightmares.

The lawsuit has been filed against the teacher, the city and the Department of Education.  They were told that the incident was being investigated, although no response has been made.  The city Law Department claims to have received no legal papers on the case, although they would look into the matter.
